Alicia started hooping as a way to reconnect to that inner playfulness that so often sombers as we “grow up.” Yet by class number two, she realized that this ‘hooping thing’ offered more than a chance to wiggle and giggle. Introduced to other women who sought less-conventional avenues to Bliss, Alicia found a community of individuals whom were willing to explore the wonder of simply existing in a moment and enjoying it. These women, her fellow hoopers, serve as a reminder that--though our lives are different--as pieces of a greater whole we are still very much the same.
Hooping for Hope offered Alicia another opportunity: to give a small piece of her time and health to those who struggle, or love others who struggle, to hold on to their time and health as a baffling disease tries to steal it all away. She believes that Hooping for Hope will not only provide a show of support to the courageous families battling cancer, but also hopes it will serve as a reminder of how coming together to help others strengthens us all.
