about SUNNY BECKS

 

In January 2008, Sunny went on a trip with her husband to NC for a mini-vacation of fly-fishing.  If you know Sunny, you would know that she is way more excited to be on a beach, than a cold river looking for fish.  But, in her trend of making the best of her time, she decided to engage her guide and inquire about the breast cancer logo on her fly-fishing pole. 

 

The guide shared that she also volunteered for an organization called Casting for Recovery & Hope.  Finding inspiration through her guide's direct experience working with breast cancer survivors Sunny quickly pieced together the simple fact that the benefits her hoop students were currently receiving were matching up against the losses that the breast cancer survivors her guide had encountered were enduring. 

 

Knowing that everything happens for a reason- combined with the feeling that hula hooping was a perfect fit to help the survivor reconnect not only with her body and spirit- Sunny returned home to Nashville TN to make a difference and an impact to the hoop community that she was currently building. 

 

On a lark to hoop a half-marathon with one of her fellow students

(thanks Adele!), she founded Hooping for Hope™ in Februrary 2008. 

Sunny has continued to run the organization and lead the Hooping

the Half team from 2008-2011. 

 

Sunny also hoop-walked hoop-walked 45 of the 60 mile 3-day Komen

walk in Washington DC on behalf of her husband's aunt who was

diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. Always encouraged to make a

difference to those around her and to inspire her three daughters to do

the same, her mission is quite simple... enhance the lives of breast

cancer survivors around her by sharing her love of the hula hoop.

 

Sunny Becks-Crumpton, created Hooprama in 2008 offering

custom hoops and hula hoop fitness classes.  She retired from

teaching fitness classes in 2011 to focus full time on her

new adventure, Discount Hoop Supply, LLC which ships

hoop-making supplies worldwide.
